The 'blue riband' suburb of Cottesloe is the premium WA beachside location in WA. Named in honour of Captain C. H. Fremantle whose brother had become Baron Cottesloe in 1874, this is the place where people enjoy a lifestyle of swimming, surfing, long walks along the coast and watching the incredible sunsets under the famous pine trees.
The spirit of Cottesloe is a sense of adventure, of rugged individuality, and just the slightest hint of the Australian larrikin. Cottesloe is situated on the coast between Perth and Fremantle, accessed by train and bus routes along Stirling Highway and all homes are within 3kms of the major private schools. Young families or retirees live here in harmony, their common bond being the ever changing vistas of the Indian Ocean.
According to a recent (2008) 'Quality of Life Index', Cottesloe (together with Nedlands) enjoys the second best lifestyle of any suburb in Western Australia after Peppermint Grove, and the 11th best in Australia. Residents have the equal highest taxable income in the State (with Peppermint Grove), the 3rd highest proportion of residents with broadband internet connection.
